Eucharistische aanbidding

Sometimes, worship is simply being there, without rushing, loving and being loved. Worship is not an escape from the world—it is a preparation to transform the world with God’s love . As we worship Jesus, we are transformed by Him, and then sent to be His living presence in the realities around us.

I-What is the Blessed Sacrament?

The Blessed Sacrament is Jesus Himself present in the Eucharist under the appearances of bread and wine. After the consecration at Holy Mass, the bread is no longer bread, but the Body of Christ , and the wine, His Blood. This mystery of faith is called transubstantiation .

Adoration occurs when the consecrated Body of Christ is solemnly exposed on the altar, usually in a sacred object called a monstrance . But it can also be done before the tabernacle, where Jesus remains reserved to be carried to the sick or adored in silence.

II-Why worship the Eucharistic Jesus?

1. Because He is truly present

The Church teaches that Jesus is really, truly, and substantially present in the Eucharist (CCC 1374). It is not a symbol, it is not a remembrance: it is He, with His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. To worship is to recognize with living faith this presence of love.

2. Because He waits for us with love

Jesus is in the Tabernacle out of love for us. He wanted to remain with us until the end of time (cf. Mt 28:20). In adoration, we welcome this love and respond to it with our time, our silence, and our surrender .

3. Because worship transforms the heart

Standing before Jesus is like being exposed to the sun: His light penetrates our wounds, illuminates our doubts, calms our storms, and renews our faith . Worship heals, strengthens, and sanctifies.

III -How to worship the Blessed Sacrament?

There are no rigid formulas. The most important thing is to have an open and sincere heart . However, here are some suggestions:

    • Silence, make the sign of the cross and kneel before the altar. Turn your phone OFF and your heart ON to Jesus

    • Believe in His presence. Praise and worship Jesus with your heart: “Lord, I believe that you are here, present and alive.”

    • Be thankful for everything: for life, for salvation, for the little details of the day.

    • Ask: Place your intentions, pains, dreams and difficulties in His hands.

    • Reparation: Ask forgiveness for your own sins and those of your family, community, city, country and the whole world.
    • Listen: don’t just talk, let Jesus also speak to your heart .

  • Pray: you can pray the Rosary, meditate on the Word or a spiritual book.

Take time to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Even if it’s just for a few minutes. Even if you don’t know what to say. Just be there. He will do the rest. There is heaven on earth. There is He who loves you so much.

“I look at Him and He looks at me.” — Saint John Mary Vianney

“Adoration outside of the Mass continues and intensifies what has taken place during the liturgical celebration. After all, “only in adoration can a deep and true reception ripen. And it is precisely in this personal encounter with the Lord that the social mission inherent in the Eucharist ripens, which seeks to break down not only the barrier between the Lord and us but also and above all the barriers that separate us.” (Sacramentum Caritatis No. 66, Pope Benedict XVI)
