What is Caritas?

Caritas or charity is part of our Catholic faith. In addition to coming together to celebrate the sacraments and proclaim the faith, going out to visit those in need is equally important to believers.

The word “caritas” means “love” and comes from a Latin word related to the meaning “costly” and “valuable. As Christians, we believe that to God people are valuable, priceless.

Caritas is a service of charity: concrete help with needs and requirements. Caritas is also about standing up for the rights of oppressed people. Yet Caritas is more than giving stuff or money, or holding protest marches. It is about seeing people in need, hearing their stories.

Donate to the poor

You can help the poor in many ways.

One simple way is sending a donation to the Kerk van Onze Lieve Vrouw, because we a have a number of persons and families who need financial support.

Visiting the needy

Some of our parishioners become sick or old and are not able to come to the church. We would like to show them that we care and do not forget them.
